IRVINE, Calif. — Two absolute workhorses for Academy of Art University women's basketball were among the individuals on this year's All-PacWest Teams in a Wednesday announcement by the Pacific West Conference office. Redshirt senior forward
Pre'Franz Dominick was selected to the All-PacWest Second Team and redshirt senior guard
Jazzlynn Brewster was earned Honorable Mention.
This year, the PacWest coaches or designated representatives from each school selected 33 student-athletes for All-Conference accolades. The squad consisted of First, Second, and Third Teams featuring six players on each listing, and five honorable mentions. Additionally, individual awards were given to a Player, Defender, Newcomer, Freshman, and Coach of the Year.

Dominick was one of the most dominant forwards in not just the PacWest Conference, but all of NCAA Division II as well in 2017-18. After leading the country in rebounds per game
at one point in mid-January, the Reridder, La. Native finished the season fifth overall (11.9 rpg) and fourth in offensive rebounds per game alone (4.5), crushing the program's single-season record. Additionally, she would break ART U's single-season record for total rebounds at Notre Dame de Namur on
Feb. 17 and finished with 332 (including program records both offensive, 125, and defensive, 207) when all was said and done.
She was the only player to rank among the PacWest's top five in points (third), rebounds (first), steals (fifth), and blocks (fifth) per game, averaging 17.6 points, the aforementioned 11.9 rebounds, 2.1 steals, and 1.4 blocks per contest. In addition to posting 14 double-doubles (second in the PacWest and 15th in the NCAA), Dominick was a three-time PacWest Defender of the Week (
Jan. 15,
Jan. 22,
Feb. 19).
"Pre'Franz had an incredible season," said assistant coach
Jasmin Guinn. "Being top five in four different categories is no easy feat and it's good to see her recognized. She put in a lot of work and it showed on the floor. She consistently performed at a high level and I'm very proud of the growth she showed."
Just three games into the season, Dominick erupted for career-highs across the board with 30 points and 16 rebounds at Cal State Monterey Bay on
Nov. 14. She would tie that point-total in a
Dec. 12 matchup with Central Washington and later tied the program's single-game record with 23 rebounds against Chaminade on
Jan. 15. That performance came during a stretch of seven consecutive double-doubles and, late in the year, the redshirt senior would nearly log the Urban Knights' first triple-double, coming up just two steals shy with 15 points, 19 rebounds, and a career-high eight steals at NDNU on
Feb. 17.

Stepping into a leadership role as the team's starting point guard, Brewster proved to be key in not only in ball distribution, but scoring, and defense as well. She completed the 2017-18 season as the PacWest leader in assists per game (5.6, which set a program record as well) and ranked 12th in NCAA Division II in that category. The Lacey, Wash. native ended up finishing just three assists shy (158) of the ART U single-season record. Once the
PacWest Defender of the Week, Brewster also finished second in the PacWest in steals per game (2.3).
"Jazz was the glue that kept us together for the most part," said Guinn. "Her selflessness and her ability to put her teammates in positions to succeed shined through. She was one of those players who did a lot of things that didn't show up in the box score although her stats were always impressive as well. I'm glad she is being recognized and it's well deserved."
Brewster's season highlights started with her being named to the
2017 West Region Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 20.5 points per game in the first two contests. The Communications & Media Technologies major later broke the program's single-game assists record with 14 against Stanislaus State on
Dec. 15, exploded for 31 points at Hawaii Pacific on
Jan. 3 and came within a single point of the Academy of Art single-game scoring record with a career-high 34 points hosting Fresno Pacific on
Feb. 22. Against the Sunbirds, she would break the program's single-game record with 13 free throws made in 14 trips to the foul line.
These All-PacWest honors are the first in Dominick and Brewster's respective careers.
