PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Jan. 22)
IRVINE, Calif. – After averaging 20.5 rebounds (12.0 on the defensive end), 2.5 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game last week, Academy of Art University women's basketball redshirt senior forward
Pre'Franz Dominick was bestowed her second consecutive PacWest Conference Defender of the Week. The award was based on games played Jan. 15-21.
Starting the week on
Jan. 15 against Chaminade, Dominick tied the program record and set a PacWest season-high with a career-high 23 rebounds (13 defensive) while adding three steals and two blocks. Her 10 rebounds in the first quarter alone helped ART U establish a 23-point lead which they would not relinquish the rest of the way. With Dixie State in town on
Jan. 20, the DeRidder, La. native fought through foul trouble for 18 rebounds (11 defensive) with three blocks and a steal. Her three rejections came in the first 10 minutes and contributed to the Urban Knights' 37-29 halftime advantage.
Dominick grabbed the most rebounds of any PacWest player last week with 41 in total and ranks second in the PacWest (fourth in NCAA Division II) in rebounds per game on the year (12.6) as well as sixth in points per game (16.7). Now third overall, her 251 total rebounds have her four shy of the NCAA Division II leader.
This is the second PacWest weekly honor for Dominick in her career after she won her first
last week.
