KNIGHT WATCH

On the verge of doubling last year's win total, Academy of Art has thus far bested SF State (
Nov. 8), Cal State Monterey Bay (
Nov. 9), Cal Maritime (
Nov. 12), Stanislaus State (
Nov. 16), Sonoma State (
Nov. 21), UC Merced (
Dec. 1), Chaminade (
Dec. 21), Jessup (
Jan. 8), Lincoln (Calif.) (
Jan. 11), CUH once again (
Feb. 1), and Hawaii Pacific (
Feb. 20) for 11 victories in ART U's 2024-25 campaign. Holding each of its last four opponents to field goal percentages under .378, ART U has remains the conference leader in lowest opponent field goal percentage (.345) in addition to ranking third in assists per contest (12.6).
With at least seven different Knights scoring in each of the squad's last 26 consecutive games (32 straight dating back to the end of last year), the team carries seven who average 5.0 points per contest. Senior forward
Yasmine Sifaoui's 9.4 scoring average paces Academy of Art followed by junior guard
Alba Rovira Ayuso (9.0), sophomore guard
Lucia Revenga (7.0), senior forward/center
Christy Ojide Boiko (6.9), redshirt freshman guard
Karereatua Williams (6.8), sophomore guard
Maddie Morrow (5.4), and sophomore guard
Anna Fornells (5.1).
Grabbing a team-best 5.4 rebounds per contest, Ojide Boiko recently surpassed 600 in her career, elevating to 606 rebounds (third in ART U history and eight from the second spot) with 354 on the defensive glass (third in ART U history) and 252 on the offensive end (second in ART U history). Freshman forward
Keira Mitchell has blocked a shot in each of her last six outings, helping her to 34 rejections on the season (tied for fifth in ART U history) and an average of 1.3 per contest (fifth in PacWest). After dealing out 17 assists in her last five games, Revenga comes into this last stretch averaging 2.7 per contest (seventh in PacWest).
VISITING THE GOLDEN EAGLES' NEST
At 4-21 overall and 3-15 in conference play, Concordia went through 14-game losing streak into the start of PacWest action before topping Menlo, UH Hilo, and Biola in the most recent two-month span. A one-point loss to Menlo sends CUI into its final two home games of the year though the Golden Eagles continue to rank second in the conference in both steals per game (9.7) and turnover margin (3.3). Izzy Navarro handles much of the Concordia workload, ranking first in the conference in steals per game (3.0) and second in points per game (17.1). Though CUI has had the edge in recent matchups, the historical series sees the Golden Eagles up just 8-6 over ART U.
A TRIP TO THE ZU
Though Azusa Pacific was nationally ranked for much of the season, the Cougars do not carry that designation coming into this week despite holding records of 20-5 overall and 14-4 in conference play. A nine-game win streak bridged APU's non-conference and PacWest action, but season series sweeps at the hands of Vanguard and Point Loma have denied Azusa Pacific sole possession of its fourth consecutive PacWest regular season title with matchups hosting Biola (Feb. 27) and Academy of Art to finish the slate. Firmly first in the conference in points (76.4), steals (12.2), and blocks (4.5) per game, the Cougars rely heavily on Kelly Heimburger's 18.6 scoring average (first in PacWest) and 1.7 blocks per game while Audrey Sayoc and Amayah Kirkman combine to average over 4.5 steals per contest. Through 19 meetings to date, APU is in front of the Knights 16-3.
SENIOR QUARTET ALL CONTRIBUTE IN NARROW LOSS TO UH HILO
With neither side separating from the other by more than eight points throughout, a
Feb. 24 Pacific West Conference thrilling rematch between Academy of Art women's basketball and UH Hilo saw a one-point difference in the waning seconds and culminated with the Vulcans on top 63-60.
