Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Seniors Combine For Half Of Knights' Total In Finale

AZUSA, Calif. – Matched up against a tough Azusa Pacific team with just four Pacific West Conference losses to its name, Academy of Art women's basketball shared the load offensively as three Urban Knights scored in double figures, including two playing in their final collegiate game, but the Cougars controlled the momentum toward their 82-58 victory.

Yasmine SifaouiClose early on, it was not until APU closed the opening quarter with five straight that the home team began to gain more separation. The second frame began with senior forward/center Christy Ojide Boiko converting and sophomore guard Anna Fornells netting back-to-back layups as the sides went back and forth.

Consecutive triples from Fornells and graduate student guard Emilia Dougherty brought ART U to within three at 25-22 yet the Cougars again ended on a strong note, going into the half up 37-26 following a 10-2 run.

As initial scores from senior forward Yasmine Sifaoui and subsequent triples from Dougherty as well as redshirt freshman guard Karereatua Williams kept the margin in the low double-digits, a 6-0 run exclusively on scores from sophomore guard Lucia Revenga had the difference down to eight at 52-44. The Knights would come no closer, however, as Azusa Pacific took an 8-2 push into the fourth and never looked back in the 82-58 win.

"Today was about sustaining our execution on both ends of the court," said Head Coach Jesse Clark. "We were able to do it in parts of the game, but when playing a top team in the conference a sustained level is required. Versatility is a hallmark of our team this season, so once again our ability to create open opportunities for each other was on display throughout the game."

Academy of Art finishes its second year under Clark at 11-17 overall and 4-16 in PacWest action. Revenga posted a season-high 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field along with collecting eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. The tandem of Ojide Boiko and Sifaoui had 10 points apiece while Ojide Boiko added 12 rebounds for her 10th career double-double.

"As I reflect on the year, it was an honor to coach this group," Clark said. "We took a step forward and grew as a program."

Heading into the PacWest Championship Tournament with a 22-5 overall record and 16-4 conference record, APU had Amayah Kirkman pour in a game-high 30 points, adding nine rebounds, five assists, four steals, and two blocks.

This concludes the 2024-25 campaign for Academy of Art women's basketball. For the latest news and information, and the upcoming season in review, check out www.ARTUAthletics.com.
