PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Apr. 9)
 

IRVINE, Calif. -- For the seventh time in 10 weeks of Pacific West Conference weekly awards thus far, Brooke Larsen (16-3) excelled on both sides of the softball to earn her sixth PacWest Freshman of the Week honor of the season. The award was based on games played Apr. 2-8.

In the first game of an Apr. 5 doubleheader with Notre Dame de Namur, Larsen logged her eighth shutout of the year, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings with only one hit and one walk. The Sacramento, Calif. native would face just 23 total batters (two above the minimum) and struck out nine along the way. When she wasn't retiring Argonauts, Larsen was busy going 1-for-3 with a run scored and a double as a hitter. She then went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in, and one run scored in the second contest, pushing her current streak to now four consecutive games with at least one double.

Larsen currently leads the PacWest in wins (16), complete games (15), and innings pitched (131.0). She is also second in strikeouts (160) and shutouts (8) as well as fourth in ERA (1.02). The Graphic Design major opens this week still ranked second in the country in shutouts, seventh in strikeouts and 10th in wins. As a hitter, Larsen is tied for second in the PacWest in doubles with 13 on the year.

This is the seventh PacWest weekly honor Larsen has collected this season after she captured the aforementioned Player of the Week selection on Mar. 26 and was Freshman of the Week five times previously (Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 19, Mar. 19, Apr. 2).
