Brooke Larsen (4-1) was selected for her third consecutive Pacific West Conference Freshman of the Week. The award was based on games played Feb. 12-18.
Larsen started the doubleheader against CSUMB with a 1-for-3 game one then, in the circle for game two, she delivered a complete 7.0 innings, allowing just three runs with no walks while matching her season-high of nine strikeouts. She would drive in what ended up being the winning run on a double in the first inning and later doubled home one more to finish 3-for-4 with two runs batted in. She now has a four-game hitting streak.
Through five starts as a collegiate pitcher, Larson leads the PacWest in complete games (5), is second in strikeouts (39) and innings pitched (38.0), and third in wins (4). As a hitter, she ranks second in the conference in doubles (4).
This is the third PacWest weekly honor of Larsen's career after she picked up awards the past two weeks (
Feb. 5,
Feb. 12).
