PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Feb. 12)

IRVINE, Calif. – Remaining dominant in the pitcher's circle and adding offense swinging the bat through just the second week of the season, pitcher Brooke Larsen (3-1) was selected for her second Pacific West Conference Freshman of the Week. The award was based on games played Feb. 5-11.

Larsen began the week by going a full 7.0 innings against Cal State East Bay on Feb. 7, surrendering just six hits with no earned runs allowed and six strikeouts. After the Urban Knights won that game 5-2, the Sacramento, Calif. native went 2-for-2 and scored the first run of the second contest, a 5-4 victory for ART U. Facing Saint Martin's on Feb. 11, Larsen again put a full 7.0 innings in the books with only one earned run allowed on six hits with five strikeouts including two in the final inning. Offensively, she went 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in then added another double in her 1-for-3 finale.

In ART U's 4-1 week, Larsen offered a 0.50 earned run average with two wins, two complete games, and just one earned run allowed plus 11 strikeouts in 14.0 innings of work . At the plate, the multi-talented Larsen also went 5-for-9 with two doubles, two runs, and a RBI to help Academy of Art improve to 6-4 on the season.

Now with four starts under her belt this season, Larson ranks first in the PacWest in complete games (4) and is second in both earned run average (0.90) and strikeouts (30). 

This is the second PacWest weekly honor of Larsen's career.
