Women's Tennis Dismantles No. 9 Azusa Pacific 6-3

No. 6 Academy of Art versus No. 9 Azusa Pacific Final Results

AZUSA, Calif. – After suffering a tough loss to No. 22 Point Loma on Friday, No. 6 Academy of Art women's tennis bounced back in a big way, taking down No. 9-ranked Azusa Pacific 6-3.

Returning to full strength in doubles, the Urban Knights took two of the three matches including an 8-0 sweep by No. 6 twins Alma Thell-Lenntorp and Klara Thell-Lenntorp. Juniors Monika Stanikova and Paula Alcantara collected ART U's second win, defeating their opponent 8-5 in the third position.

In singles, Academy of Art continued to roll, coming away with victories in four of the six contests. Both A. Thell-Lenntorp and Alcantara took care of business in straight sets, taking their matches 6-1, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-4 respectively. Both K. Thell-Lenntorp and Stanikova needed three sets to secure their wins and Stanikova battled from behind after dropping the first set 6-4.

With their Southern California trip now at an end, ART U will return home where they will prepare for their most crucial stretch of the season: a four-match trip to the East Coast where they will face three ranked opponents in three days.
