KNIGHT WATCH

As a team, Academy of Art comes into its final two games ranked first in the PacWest and 15th in all of NCAA Division II in offensive rebounds per game (16.1) as well as second in the conference in steals per game (9.42). After breaking the program's single-season rebounding record (now with 320) and earning her third
PacWest Defender of the Week honor this year, redshirt senior forward
Pre'Franz Dominick remains second in the country in offensive rebounds per game (4.8) and has maintained her place as the PacWest leader (fourth in the nation) in total rebounds per game (12.3). She is 11th in DII with 14 double-doubles and comes off a career-high eight steals against NDNU on
Feb. 17. The Communications & Media Technologies major adds 17.6 points per game (3rd in the PacWest), 1.4 blocks per game (5th in PacWest), and 2.0 steals per game (8th in PacWest).
Along with Dominick, redshirt senior guard
Jazzlynn Brewster ranks among the top 10 in PacWest scorers at ninth overall (15.7 ppg). She adds the 15th-highest assists per game average in the nation (5.5) while leading the PacWest and she would need 20 assists in these final two games to set the program's single-season record. Additionally, Brewster is second in the conference in steals per game (2.4) and, tied with Dominick, senior forward
Helena Orts ranks ninth in the category with 2.0 thefts per game. Orts is also fifth in the PacWest in rebounding (8.8 rpg) and 13th in scoring (15.3 ppg).
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Since defeating Academy of Art on Dec. 30 in Fresno, the Sunbirds have gone 5-7 with a pair of losses in Southern California (Azusa Pacific & Concordia) and a pair of wins in Hawaii (UH Hilo & Chaminade). Fresno Pacific, having played their final home game on Feb. 17 and desperately vying for the sixth and final spot in the PacWest Conference Tournament, come into this week with a two-game losing streak most recently to Hawaii Pacific and California Baptist. As a team, FPU ranks third in the PacWest in three-point defense (holding opponents to just over 30 percent shooting), turnover margin (2.15), and blocked shots per game (4.12). Bree Alvarez leads the Sunbirds offensively at 12.9 points per game (17th in PacWest) and Julia LoCastro comes in ranked fourth in the conference with 1.7 blocks per contest. Though Fresno Pacific topped ART U earlier this season, the Knights still hold a 6-1 edge all-time.
EAGLES SOAR IN
Currently third in the PacWest standings and assured a spot in the PacWest Conference Tournament, Concordia will have its seeding based on how the Eagles' final two games go. CUI has won five in a row and matches up with NDNU on Thursday before finishing the regular season with the first time facing Academy of Art in 2017-18. Similarly to No. 21 Hawaii Pacific, Concordia relies on defense to win games, holding opponents to the second-fewest points per game (65.0). The Eagles' top scoring threat is Michaela Vanderklugt whose 15.6 points per game rank 10th in the PacWest and go with the conference's eighth-highest rebounding average (7.8). ART U has defeated Concordia three times in four previous meetings.
DOMINICK BREAKS REBOUNDS RECORD, NEARLY POSTS TRIPLE-DOUBLE IN LOSS
A memorable performance from redshirt senior forward
Pre'Franz Dominick came on
Feb. 17 inside Walter Gleason Gym despite Notre Dame de Namur's 82-65 victory in the Pacific West Conference rematch. Dominick became the program's single-season rebounds leader in the first half and finished just two steals shy of ART U's first triple-double.
