ACADEMY OF ART TO HOST TRIO THIS WEEK

Returning from a pair of games in Hawaii to start the New Year, Academy of Art University women's basketball welcomes two local Pacific West Conference opponents and another from Hawaii to Kezar Pavilion this week.

OPENING TIP
A four-part homestand begins with three games over the course of the coming week with Dominican first up on Wednesday, Jan. 10. The weekend brings a rematch with Holy Names on Saturday, Jan. 13 followed by a Monday, Jan. 15 pairing with Chaminade. All three contests are scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m. inside Kezar Pavilion. Live coverage will be available via the links above. Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights on Twitter & Instagram and "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

KNIGHT WATCH
16685Ranked second in the PacWest in offensive rebounds per game (14.4), Academy of Art remains top three in the conference in steals per game (8.94) as well. Offering the third-highest single-season points per game average in program history thus far, redshirt senior forward Pre'Franz Dominick is putting up 16.3 points per game (seventh in the PacWest) with the third-most rebounds per game in the conference (10.9) as well. After breaking out for a career-high 31 points against Hawaii Pacific, redshirt senior guard Jazzlynn Brewster has moved up to 12th in the PacWest in scoring (15.6 ppg), putting her just four spots ahead of senior forward Helena Orts (14.4 ppg) at 16th overall. As they have all season long, Orts and Brewster remain second and third in the conference in steals per game at 2.5 and 2.4 respectively. Brewster is also second in the PacWest in assists per game, dealing out 4.8 per contest, while Orts finds herself eighth in rebounding (7.9 per game).

DOMINICAN DOMINANT EARLY
Off to one of the best starts of any PacWest team, Dominican began the year 10-2 with losses to only SF State and UC San Diego. The Penguins, who bested Holy Names, NDNU, Fresno Pacific, and Point Loma to open PacWest play, have the highest scoring average in the conference (81.4 points per game) and had been defeating opponents by nearly 12.0 points per game prior to defeats at the hands of California Baptist and Dixie State. In addition to a productive offense led by the one-two punch of Natalie Diaz (23.9 ppg) and Sandra Ikeora (21.8 ppg), the top two scorers in the PacWest, steals are a big part of the Penguins' game (10.07 thefts per game as a team) with Ikeora (2.3 spg) and Vanessa Cruz (2.1 spg) fourth and fifth in the conference. Academy of Art 14-2 all-time against Dominican.

REMEMBERING THE NAME
Since ART U defeated Holy Names 75-39 on Dec. 10, the Hawks have gone 1-3, logging their first PacWest win of the year over Chaminade 78-74 on Jan. 3. Currently 2-13 overall this season, HNU's other win came against Cal State Maritime on Nov. 21. Onjalise Carley-Hilliard is Holy Names' leading scorer at 9.8 points per game while Sara Jones adds 7.1 rebounds per contest. Including the win earlier this season, the Knights carry a 7-4 historical record against the Hawks.

SWORDPLAY
After starting the year 0-4, Chaminade picked up its first win of the season against UH Hilo, prevailing 69-67 on Dec. 16. With what was an eight-game homestand now complete, the Silverswords now travel to the mainland for four contests beginning with Dominican on Jan. 13 before ART U on Jan. 15. The PacWest's third-highest scorer, Destiny Castro, comes from Chaminade and she averages 19.3 points per game. Academy of Art is a perfect 15-0 all-time versus the Silverswords.

KNIGHTS RALLY TO FORCE OVERTIME, FALL TO HILO 68-63
Unfazed by a 10-point deficit in the first half, Academy of Art University women's basketball came all the way back to tie UH Hilo and force overtime inside Hilo Civic Auditorium on Jan. 5. Redshirt senior forward Pre'Franz Dominick, who was particularly key to start and in the third quarter, posted 26 points and 17 rebounds, but it would not be enough to overcome a final push by the Vulcans who prevailed 68-63 in the extra period.

LOOKING AHEAD
The ART U homestand will finish up with a Jan. 20 matchup featuring Dixie State before a road rematch at Dominican on Jan. 27.
