PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Mar. 6)
IRVINE, Calif. -- Continuing to thrive in the heart of the Academy of Art University softball batting order, infielder
Freddie Carrillo earned the program's second Pacific West Conference Freshman of the Week on the season Monday. The award was based on games played Feb. 27 - March 5.
In ART U's 2-0 week that featured a sweep of BYU-Hawaii on
Mar. 4, Carrillo slugged .833 while going 3-for-6 at the plate. The Graphic Design major drove in one with a double in the first game then brought home two with a double in the day's finale in addition to stealing a base in each contest. She is currently on a 10-game hitting streak with three multi-hit efforts.
On the season, Carrillo is batting a team-best .373 (19-for-51) with seven doubles (tied for second in the PacWest Conference), 10 runs batted in, and seven runs scored.
This is Carrillo's first career PacWest weekly honor and ART U's second after infielder
