TIPPING OFF
The Urban Knights are set to return to Kezar Pavilion this weekend after the trip to Hawaii, playing host to three island schools over the next week. The Knights start off with UH Hilo, who they did not play on their island tour, and finish off with Hawai'i Pacific and Chaminade, as BYU-Hawai'i will not make the trip to San Francisco. Academy of Art is still undefeated at Kezar Pavilion at home, and will look to continue that streak as conference play continues.

MELONAS PULLING DOUBLE DUTY
The Knights did not face UH Hilo in Hawai'i, so they have not had to face off against Vulcans big man Michael Melonas, who is averaging 12.4 points per to game to go along with his team-leading 7.5 rebounds per game. Melonas, a 6-foot, 6-inch senior from Ventura, CA, is returning to the mainland as a member of a Vulcans team that smack in the middle of the PacWest in scoring at 74.9 points per contest, but still boasts four double-digit scorers. Along with Melonas, Kiel Myers (13.7 ppg), CJ Brown (13.4 ppg), and Mychael Hearn (12.6 ppg) are also above the 10-point threshold in scoring.

SHAMSUD-DIN SET TO JOIN THE 700 CLUB
Senior Ameer Shamsud-din is only in his second year with the Urban Knights, but after setting the single-season scoring record last year with 466 points, the swingman from Portland is at it again, climbing up to second on the all-time scoring list for the Knights. He is poised to become the second Academy of Art basketballer to break the 700-point plateau, sitting at 656 points going into the upcoming homestand, and has already set career marks in field goals (161) and three-pointers (71) for ART U.

MORE TIME ON THE CLOCK IN ROUND TWO
On the trip to Hawai'i, the Knights started off at Hawai'i Pacific and came extremely close to a last-minute comeback, but eventually falling 72-66 to the Sea Warriors. Now facing HPU at home, the Knights will have a full forty minutes to exact their revenge, but will have to contain Marko Cukic, who led the Sea Warriors with 17 points against the Knights back in Honolulu. ART U will also work to hold Malte Ziegenhagen in check, as they kept him at his season average of 15 points but only 40% from the floor a week ago.

FISHER, THE DISHER
Freshman swing guard Bryan Fisher had a penchant for scoring in high school, averaging 17.9 points per game at Aliso Niguel HS, but also had a knack for finding his open teammates, coming in at just under 4.8 assists per game in his high school career. In his first year, Fisher has jumped to the top of the team stats in assists for ART U, as his 3.8 dishes per game rank sixth in the conference. His 46 assists already put him in the top ten for assists in a single season in Urban Knights history, as he is currently holding the ninth-best mark with 13 games left in the season.

KEEPING THE SWORDS OFF THE LINE
In the most recent game that the Urban Knights played, Chaminade defeated them 83-70, with the Silverswords taking 49 shots from the free-throw line and sinking 37 of them. The Knights will have to keep them off the line in San Francisco, as they held the Swords to shooting only 42% from the field. Lee Bailey and Bennie Murray each had 19 points for Chaminade, and each had at least 10 points from the charity stripe. Aaron Anderson scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Knights in the loss.

ON THE REBOUND
After the three-game homestand, Academy of Art hits the road again, heading south to face off against PacWest newcomers Point Loma Nazarene University (Jan. 31) and Azusa Pacific University (Feb. 4) sandwiched around a game against California Baptist on February 2nd.
