Knights Net Two On PacWest Fantastic 15

Alex Carmon
Phoenix, AZ -- Redshirt freshman Alex Carmon made his second straight PacWest Fantastic 15 Honor Roll and senior combo guard Ameer Shamsud-din made his second Honor Roll of the season after the Urban Knights conference opener last week against Notre Dame de Namur. The Knights fell to the Argos late, but Carmon and Shamsud-din were part of the highlights for the Academy of Art University men's basketball team in the loss. The conference announced the award on Monday, Dec. 3, for games played Nov. 26-Dec. 2.

Ameer Shamsud-din
Carmon dropped a career-high 20 points on the Argos, the second time he has led the team in points scored. He also went 8-for-8 from the free throw line to improve to just under 80% on the young season. Carmon is third on the team in scoring, averaging 12.0 points per contest, and is also averaging 4.7 rebounds per game. His 79.2% free-throw percentage is good for ninth in the PacWest, and he had a double-double on Nov. 23 against Cal State Dominguez Hills with 14 points and 10 rebounds. It was his second time on the Fantastic 15 this year.

Shamsud-din had 17 points and five assists, continuing to lead the Knights in scoring at 15.5 points per contest. The senior from Portland, OR was also perfect at the free-throw line, making all five of his shots from the stripe. He has scored in double-digits in every game except one this year, and he currently is tied for 7th in the conference in scoring. This marks his second time on the Fantastic 15 this year, and the twelfth time in his career.
