Shamsud-din Picks Up Where He Left Off, Makes Fantastic 15

Phoenix, AZ - In the first week of the young basketball season, Academy of Art University senior guard Ameer Shamsud-din picked up right where he left off last year as the Urban Knights leading scorer and landing himself on the first PacWest Men's Basketball Fantastic 15 of the year. The honor was announced by the PacWest Office in Phoenix, AZ on Monday, Nov. 12, for games played Nov. 9-11.

The senior from Portland, OR, averaged averaged 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 three-pointers made and 3.0 assists per game despite a 0-2 week for the Urban Knights, dropping 27 points against Seattle Pacific in the season opener. His marks tied him for second in scoring, while shooting 57.1% (16 for 28) from the floor and 50.0% (5 for 10) from the line for the week. Shamsud-din also had 10 rebounds and six assists in the two games, which tied him for sixth in assist average and tied for 17th in rebounding for the week in the PacWest.

Shamsud-din was second in the conference last year in scoring at 16.6 ppg while breaking the Knights single-season scoring record with 466 points. This is his 11th career PacWest Weekly honor, and his first of this season. The Knights will open their home schedule this Saturday against Cal State East Bay.
