Men's Golf Faced Challenging Competition Head on at Thunderbird Invitational

Matt Garcia carded a 228 over three rounds, finishing 38th on the individual leaderboard. The Urban Knights as a whole placed 17th at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Grand Canyon University at Wigwam Resort Golf Course in Litchfield Park, AZ. Overall, it was the Lopes' who ran away with the title, finishing with a three round score of 871, eight strokes ahead of No. 1 Chico State University.

Garcia's final round score was just three strokes behind tournament leader Matt Pridey of Grand Canyon University. The senior's round three score of 74 helped keep the Urban Knights steady in 17th as the tournament came to a close. Coupled with his first two round scores of 76, and 78, Garcia finished the invitational with a 13-over par 228.  Stuart Favretto posted scores of 84, 77, and matched Garcia's 74, for a three round score of 235.

Erik Majzner finished tied for 66th, bringing in scores of 72, 83 and 82 for a two-day total of 237, two strokes behind Favretto. While Thomas Krepp and Carlos Nones each came in 86th and 90th, respectively.

Academy of Art will take a break from competition before heading to Turlock on Apr. 11-12 for the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Golf and Country Club.
