Lawrence Liang officially became an alumni after signing off on a memorable senior season in 2018-19. Following a junior year that saw him become the first player in program history to be named aÂ
Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar, Liang closed his career with one of the 10th lowest average scores in program history (76,95). He would finish on theÂ
All-PacWest Third Team, adding his secondÂ
Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honor after maintaining theÂ
highest GPA (3.87) of all ART U male student-athletes and working on projects nominated for advertising awards.
Collaborating with teammate Jose Lopez Butron, Liang developed a commercial project for adidas entitled "Never Walk Away." The advertisement, which tapped into the struggles of women in sports and sought to empower, was nominated to theÂ
Student Division of the American Advertising Awards as sponsored by the American Advertising Federation and Ad 2 National. Following his graduation, Liang would go on to work for Carol H. Williams Advertising, a full-service integrated agency, and would be promoted to Creative Project Manager in 2020.
"Looking back, it was a great decision to attend Academy of Art," said Liang. "With my family primarily in the business industry, I never thought I would be an artist. And playing golf has been my dream since I was a child so I am super grateful to be a student-athlete here. My experience at Academy of Art and on the ART U golf team has been incredible and I truly appreciate it. It has been one of the best times in my life."
