Strong First Round By ART U Paces Urban Knights At STAN

Hanny Stanislaus Invite (Day 1)

MERCED, Calif. – Through the first day of the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, Academy of Art men's golf paced themselves with a first-round 2-under-par 286 before ending the opening two rounds off with their score set at a 3-over-par 579.

Senior Giulio Zanichelli concluded the rounds at Merced Golf & Country Club with a 1-under-par 143, just three strokes ahead of his teammates in junior Zach DuBourdieu and freshman Mario Stump, who closed the day out with a 2-over-par 146 apiece. Just an additional stroke back was senior Anson Pan with his 3-over-par 147, after he shot the best individual round of the Urban Knights on Monday with his first round 3-under-par 69. Rounding out the squad was freshman Ekam Singh who finished with his 7-over-par 151.

Leading the tournament through the first two rounds was the host school in No. 39 Stanislaus State with a 12-under-par 564, just one stroke in front of No. 24 Cal State Monterey Bay, all while there are four schools total within three strokes of the Warriors by day's end. Individually, Jack Peters of Stan State ranks in first place with his 9-under-par 135, holding a two-stroke gap ahead of three other golfers.

ART U will be back at it tomorrow to compete in the third round, this time playing out at Turlock Golf Course.
