SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Carrying momentum from her record-breaking All-American run in the indoor version of the 800m,
Lina Hanich once again improved upon her Academy of Art track & field record 800m time in her outdoor debut on Friday.
Hanich emerged first out of a field of 66, blazing to a new top time of 2:05.23 that bettered her previous best from the end of last season. The Advertising major improved upon her program record by more than a full second, elevating to first among Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifiers as well as tying her for 21st in NCAA Division II history.
In the men's 400m hurdles,
Robin Black continued to lower his time, doing so for the second consecutive meet with a 52.06 across the line. His second Outdoor Nationals provisional mark of the season had him second of 24 on the day and up slightly to second in the country thus far.
Extremely close to the Outdoor Nationals provisional standard in his first action of the outdoor season,
Ajani Ince went 21.23 in the 200m dash. He ended up placing seventh of 101 sprinters overall.
Jaylen Walker's outdoor debut in the triple jump saw her post a 38-6.25 (11.74m) that slated her sixth in NCAA DII as well as ninth of 17 in the field with only NCAA DI competitors ahead of her.
The Urban Knights will finish up the Hornet Invitational tomorrow with a variety of events on the track and in the field.
