Pioneer Shootout Rounds Up With Zanichelli Leading ART U

Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout (Final Results)

ALAMEDA, Calif. –
Closing out the final round of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Tuesday, Academy of Art men's golf finished the tournament up with a 12th place finish as a unit, while No. 57 senior Giulio Zanichelli led the Urban Knights tied for 14th individually.

While Zanichelli ended the tournament with a three-round 2-under-par 214, the squad's top finisher saw nine birdies and an eagle in his 54 holes. Freshman Mario Stump came up next for ART U, as his 8-over-par 224 was guided by his first and third rounds, shooting a 1-over-par 73 or better in both en route to his final score. While Stump led his team in the third round, senior Anson Pan, freshman Ekam Singh, and Zanichelli all shot a 3-over-par 75 to conclude the last round. Sharing a final ranking, Pan was joined by junior Zach Dubourdieu, who each finished with a 10-over-par 226 overall.

With Cal State San Marcos evading their chasers, the Cougars came out with the tournament win, shooting a 14-under-par 850, just ahead of second place Sonoma State and third place Cal State East Bay. Narrowly taking the individual win, Greg Mouser of CSUSM held onto his first place spot in the final round, fending off No. 90 Ivan Sablan of SSU by a stroke, a player who shot under-pars in all three rounds.

ART U will be back out on the course in just under two weeks, competing in the Sonoma State Spring Invitational, the penultimate tournament of the regular season before the Pacific West Conference Tournament.
