2025 Silver and Blue Invitational Results (Day 1)
RENO, Nev. – Opening the New Year inside the Reno-Sparks Convention Center once again, Academy of Art track & field's
Toni-Ann Lindsay provided the fireworks on the first day of the Silver and Blue Invitational. The native of Portmore, Jamaica first ran her fastest 60m dash to date in the prelim then provided a stunning encore that broke a nearly 12-year program record in a blistering final.

Lindsay started the day along the prelim starting line with all NCAA Division I talents and proceeded to go 7.44 to become one of the top four finalists from her heat alone. The mark improved upon her lifetime best of 7.49 going into the day, but those times would become afterthoughts following the final. In a race where the top five ran 7.43 or lower, Linsday scorched the track with a 7.34 performance, finishing second overall, rocketing up to first among NCAA DII Indoor Nationals provisional qualifiers, and significantly bettering the 7.40 program record originally set by multi-time Hall of Famer
Vashti Thomas in 2013. Lindsay's 7.34 effort also ties her for 19th in NCAA DII history.
"My focus going into the race was just to react to the commands of the starter," Lindsay said. "I had a good execution from the prelims, so I knew once I react, I'll be in the race. I also let my momentum take me through the last half of the race, as that's a correction Coach Kevin [LaSure] gave me to work with going into the finals. All praises to God and thanks to everyone who believed in me. I am elated about my achievement today."
In the men's 60m dash,
Ajani Ince delivered his own pair of personal records, first matching the 6.77 best he ran
this past December to place second of 19 out of the prelim. Remaining second overall in the final, where he was lined up alongside teammate
Josh Shavies, Ince put himself inside the country's top 10 among Indoor Nationals provisional marks with a new lifetime-best 6.74 across the finish line.
Academy of Art had the relatively rare opportunity to send members of its contingent into the 1000m where a new program record emerged for
Lina Hanich. She and teammate
Michaela Andrews in fact offered the two fastest times by Urban Knights to date with their 2:53.90 and 3:01.79 respective marks that came behind only professional athlete Carina Viljoen on the day. The men's 1000m saw
Vaughn Lacour put forth the fourth-quickest time in ART U history with a 2:39.90.
Reminiscent of his top placement in his first indoor 800m
back in December,
Ethan Forbes was also first across the line in the mile, going 4:24.73 ahead of six others.
The Urban Knights will be back inside Reno-Sparks Convention Center tomorrow for the second and final day of the Silver and Blue Invitational.
