2024 WWU Invitational (Final Results)
BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Academy of Art men's golf climbed one team ranking after shooting their best round of the tournament at the WWU Invitational on Tuesday as the squad finished with a 20-over-par 884 while senior
Giulio Zanichelli shot a 5-under-par 67 in the third round to secure the individual runner-up award with his second place finish.
Zanichelli, who was just one stroke away from the single round record for the program with his 5-under-par 67, shot the third best round of the day to climb up two spots after he concluded day one with a 6-under-par 138 through two rounds. His combined three-round score of 205 broke the program's individual record previously set by Oskar Frick in 2015. The Parma, Italy native's top-five finish makes it his second straight through his first two tournaments of the 2024-25 campaign.Â
Next up on ART U was freshman Mario Stump, whose 8-over-par 224 saw a consistent showing after scoring within a one-stroke difference throughout all three rounds, while just a stroke behind was senior Anson Pan with his 9-over-par 225. Freshman Kok Siew "Andy" Chew rounded out the team scoring for the Knights with a 14-over-par 230 as he improved by eight shots in round three in comparison to his first round, as freshman Ekam Singh rounded out the squad with a 20-over-par 236.Â
The reigning NCAA Division II National Champions Colorado Christian rolled through the WWU Invite, as the Cougars finished with a 26-stroke lead over the next best, taking the team title with their 37-under-par 827. Xavier Bighaus was the victor of the individual title, as he came out with a 13-under-par 203.Â
ART U will be back out on the course in just a little under a week's time as they'll next compete in the Wildcat Classic on Monday, Oct. 7 at The Links at Rolling Hills in Corning, Calif.
