2023 West Regional Preview (Rounds 1 & 2)
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The West Regional Preview, the final regular season tournament for Academy of Art men's golf, has the Urban Knights in 20th as a team after sophomore
Giulio Zanichelli turned in his best round of the spring season to open action at Foxtail Golf Course on Monday.
Delivering a total of nine birdies in the first two rounds, Zanichelli sits in a tie for 29th overall after offering a 3-over-par 147. He owned the 13th-best score following the first round with a 1-under-par 71 then matched freshman
Jerah Venkaiya, who is tied for 82nd with a 10-over-par 154, for the top ART U second round at a 4-over-par 76. Knotted at 98th through two rounds, sophomore
Anson Pan and junior
Allan Osornio each posted 13-over-par 157 scores to round out the qualifiers for Academy of Art.
As a team, ART U is 20th overall with a 37-over-par 613 which has the Urban Knights ahead of Saint Martin's by three strokes and back of a two-way tie between tournament host Sonoma State's second squad and UT Tyler by two strokes. The Seawolves' first team and Cal State San Marcos are tied for the team lead each with 6-over-par 572 scores. SSU's Griffin Page and CSUSM's Matthew Pennington share the top position following their respective 5-under-par 139 cards through two rounds.
Academy of Art will play the third and final round of the West Regional Preview tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m.
