2023 Hanny Stanislaus Invitational (Rounds 1 & 2)

TURLOCK, Calif. – Monday saw Academy of Art men's golf complete each of the first two rounds of the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational hosted at Turlock Golf & Country Club, with the Urban Knights currently sitting in 16th place with a combined score of 57-over-par 633. 

Leading the way for ART U over the course of the first two rounds was sophomore Giulio Zanichelli in a tie for 46th place at 7-over-par 151, which is largely boosted by his opening round in which he shot just a 1-over-par 73. After tallying a birdie on the third hole and making the turn at even-par, he used three birdies in his first four holes on the back nine before his round came to an end at 1-over. Though his second round was more rocky, he still added another two birdies to give him a total of six on the day, which is tied for the ART U lead. 

Next up is sophomore Anson Pan who is tied for 63rd place at 10-over-par 154, as he overcame a 7-over-par 79 in his opening round to turn in just a 3-over-par 75 in his second round. He was the only Urban Knight to card an eagle on the day, doing so on the 13th hole of his second round, which he also paired with five other birdies on the day. Junior Allan Osornio is tied for 86th at 17-over-par 161, while freshman Jerah Venkaiya rounds out the Academy of Art scoring at 24-over-par 168. 

Through two rounds, only tournament leader Western Washington has combined to shoot in the red as the Vikings are 3-under-par 573, holding a six-stroke lead over second place Chico State (3-over-par 579). UH Hilo is the top Pacific West Conference team at 9-over-par 585, though Holy Names is hot on their heels at 10-over-par 586. Tyler Ashman of Chico State is the current individual leader at 6-under-par 138, though he has just a one-shot advantage on Luke Dugger of Holy Names (5-under-par 139). 

The 2023 Hanny Stanislaus Invitational concludes with round three on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
