2023 Westmont Invitational Results (Day 1)

GOLETA, Calif. -- Academy of Art men's golf came and left Day 1 of the Westmont Invitational in fashion as they currently hold the lead over the rest of the field. As a team, the Urban Knights shot a two-over-par 290 and hold a four-stroke lead over the second place team at Sandpiper Golf Course after one round of action. 

Junior Anson Pan is one of four golfers from ART U within the top 10 of the tournament, as he leads the way in second place overall with his three-under-par 69. This is Pan's best one-round score of his three-year career at Academy of Art, coming with six birdies. Sitting right behind Pan is junior Giulio Zanichelli, currently tied for fourth, with an even 72. Tied for eighth with an eagle on his first hole of the day was senior Allan Osornio, as he shot a two-over-par 74 with sophomore Jerah Venkaiya remains one stroke behind, tied for 10th with a three-over-par 75. The four counting scores for ART U represent their lowest team score of the season by 11 shots.

Peyton Hendricks of Westmont paces the field after the first day of the tournament as he shot a four-under-par 68, just one stroke ahead of Pan. With a 15-stroke lead over Occidental and 23-stroke lead over Chaminade, ART U men's golf looks to hold off Westmont in Day 2 as they lead by four strokes.

ART U is back tomorrow morning with tee times starting at 8 a.m. at Sandpiper Golf Course.
