SAN FRANCISCO -- Academy of Art University Athletics has announced
Scott Meredith as its new assistant coach for women's basketball. Coming to ART U after building Oregon Tech into a perennial postseason contender over the past 13 seasons, Meredith will join Head Coach
Lindsey Foster and her staff ahead of the Urban Knights' 2022-23 campaign.
"I am so thrilled to have Scott be part of the Academy of Art family," Foster said. "His experience, knowledge of the game, and enthusiasm/passion for our student-athlete's success is beyond valuable. He embodies all the characteristics we are looking for."

Owner of a 259-138 overall record in his time at the Owls' helm, Meredith comes off his 42nd season coaching basketball with 31 of those stints on the women's basketball side specifically. Within his 36 years as a head coach at multiple levels, he spent six seasons in California as an assistant women's basketball coach at Santa Clara, Humboldt State (now Cal Poly Humboldt), Santa Rosa Junior College, and College of the Redwoods before arriving at Oregon Tech.
Meredith guided the Owls to two Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament Championships and five trips to the NAIA National Tournament since heading the program in 2009-10. Among those postseason appearances were two advancements to the Sweet 16. In 2016, the No. 24 ranked and #7 seed Owls came back from a 16-point deficit to upset No. 8 and #2 seed Jamestown University of North Dakota. In 2019, Oregon Tech was ranked No. 25 and led wire-to-wire in defeating former back-to-back National Champion Marian University of Indiana.
"I want to thank Coach Foster and Director of Athletics
Brad Jones for the opportunity to join the outstanding staff at ART U and coach basketball in one of the most exciting cities in the world," Meredith said. "Academy of Art is a vibrant and dynamic university and I'm looking forward to my new role with the Urban Knights helping Coach Foster build the premier women's basketball program in the PacWest Conference."
Prior to Oregon Tech, Meredith compiled an overall record of 152-47 at Arcata and Fortuna High Schools. His teams dominated Humboldt-Del Norte League play with an overall league record of 48-8, including four league championships and seven consecutive berths in the North Coast Section playoffs. Meredith's 1996-97 Arcata Tigers won 28 consecutive games, finished the season 28-1, and had a mid-season ranking of No. 6 in California for all Division 3 schools. Many of Meredith's former student-athletes advanced to play at the collegiate level, competing for schools such as Cornell, Wichita State, Sacramento State, and New Mexico State.
Originally from Northern California, Meredith was a four-sport varsity letter winner in football, basketball, baseball, and track & field at Arcata High School. He graduated from Humboldt State with his bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies/Education while playing football and baseball for the Lumberjacks. He also earned his master's degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation with an emphasis in Sport Psychology from Saint Mary's College of California. He holds teaching credentials in Physical Education, Multiple Subjects Elementary Education, and Social Science.
