2021 PacWest Championships (Day 2) 
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – Academy of Art men's golf combined for the best team score during the second round of the PacWest Championship at Waikoloa Beach Course, totaling a 3-over-par 283 to put them in prime position to make a push for first place in the final round as the third place Urban Knights are only one stroke back of co-leaders Holy Names and UH Hilo. Julius Kreutzer and
Matthew Watkins continue to be in the chase for the individual title, as the pair of golfers are third and tied for fourth, respectively.
Through two days of action, the Knights are at a combined 16-over-par 576, as they had 15 birdies in the second round to jump up from fourth place. ART U tallied the lowest combined round score for a team thus far at the PacWest Championship and remain back of the Hawks and Vulcans with the latter of that pair having four golfers within the top-10. Five of the 15 birdies on the day for ART U belonged to senior
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc, as the Academy of Art is now second in the tournament in birdies overall (27) and first in par-5 combined score (9-under; 4.7 stroke average).
Also jumping up one place was Kreutzer, who began the day in a tie for fourth (along with Watkins), but boosted his position after he carded a 1-under-par 69 with a pair of birdies. Watkins held steady in a tie for fourth, posting his second consecutive even-par 70 thanks to a pair of birdies on both the front and back nines. Climbing nine spots after the second round was De Leon Manotoc, as his five birdies propelled him to a 2-under-par 68, marking him second in the tournament in total birdies (8). Otto Homruen, who carded a 6-over-par 76 in the second round as he moved up four spots into a tie for 15th place (13-over-par 153).
The last round and the final chance for ART U to capture the PacWest title is tomorrow, as the Urban Knights tee of at 8:25 a.m. HST on Wednesday.
