Sierra Central Wildcat Classic Final Results
CHICO, Calif. – Academy of Art ended their fall on a high note at the Sierra Central Wildcat Classic on Tuesday afternoon. The Urban Knights took third place, their highest finish of the season, after shooting their best round of the tournament on the final day, an even 288, for a total score of 881.
The tremendous finish was led by junior
Zhane Chan, who placed a career best tied for sixth. Chan shot a 1-over-par 73 in round three for an even cumulative score of 216. Chan picked up three birdies on the final day for a total of nine.Â
Junior
Julius Kreutzer also ended with nine birdies and shot the first ART U eagle of the season on the par-5 10th. Kreutzer ended his tournament in a tie for 13th with a final round of 1-under-par 71 and total score of 220. The final two scorers were junior
Matthew Watkins and senior
Otto Homruen. Watkins placed tied for 25th after improving five strokes in his final round with a 1-under-par 71 for a cumulative score of 223. Homruen tied his best round of the Classic with a 1-over-par 73 on the final day, bringing his overall score to 227.Â
ART U placed higher than any other PacWest team in the tournament and beat the 2019 PacWest Champions, Holy Names by three strokes. Sonoma State took the team title with their 859 and Christopher Colla of Chico State won the individual title with a cumulative score of 8-under-par 208.Â
The Sierra Central Wildcat Classic marks the end of the fall season for ART U men's golf. The team will now enjoy a long break and continue to prepare for their first tournament of the spring on Feb. 24, the Bay Area Invitational hosted by Holy Names.Â
