SAN FRANCISCO -- No. 6 Academy of Art women's tennis opened their 2019 season with an exhibition match against Division 1 University of San Francisco. The Urban Knights ended their Saturday afternoon at the Olympic Club with two doubles and singles wins.
"It feels fantastic getting back into season," said head coach

Always a mainstay of ART U tennis, the Urban Knights won two of three doubles matches. The first doubles win came from the No. 5 ranked senior duo of

Klara Thell-Lenntorp, who defeated Mya Bui and Emily Maxfield 6-4. Seniors
Paula Alcantara and
Monika Stanikova swept their match 6-0 to take down Alexa Meyer and Amber Del Rosario.
On the singles side, freshman
Sofia Ragona came away with her first win of the spring after back to back 6-2 sets.
"She did a fantastic job," said Baca. "Even though she was nervous at first, she handled the pressure well. I have big expectations for her."
Alma was undefeated on the day, winning her singles match 6-2 and 6-0 over Del Rosario.
"Overall the performance was positive," said Baca. "We are going to see a lot of improvement from each of them, and we look forward to matches to come."Â Â Â Â Â Â
