Saint Martin's Invitational Day One
LACEY, Wash. -- The grass was mowed, the tees were set, and ART U was ready for two rounds of 18 holes. In the first tournament of 2018, the Urban Knights sit in 12th place after the first two rounds of play at the Saint Martin's Invitational.
Junior
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc and sophomore
Matthew Watkins shot identical numbers in both rounds to lead the team with a combined score of 147 by the end of the day. The duo shot an even 72 in the first round and 75 (+3) in the second. Manotoc was near the top of par-5 scoring, shooting (-3) on the lengthy holes.
Senior
Lawrence Liang followed closely behind with a score of 73 (+1) in the first and 79 (+7) in the second for a cumulative score of 152. As a testament to his consistency Liang placed 11th on the leader-board in pars, collecting 26 on the day.
Tied to round out the scoring for Academy of Art were senior
Jose Lopez Butron and newcomer junior
Otto Homruen, both of whom shot a 154.
The Urban Knights are back in action tomorrow Sept. 22 at 8 a.m. to finish the final round of the Saint Martin's Invitational.
