Best Round Leads Gabriel Manotoc To 11th At NCAA Regionals

2018 Super Regionals Final Results

AMARILLO, Texas – In the final round of the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional Tournament at the La Paloma Golf Club, Academy of Art men's golf sophomore Gabriel De Leon Manotoc rose to a tie for 11th overall, 12 spots higher than his previous placement two rounds in, with the best round of the three on Wednesday.

For the third consecutive day, Manotoc shot a lower score and subsequently advanced to a better position in the overall standings. His 10 pars through 18 holes of the third round helped enable the Advertising major to shoot a 70 and finish with a combined score of 215 (74-71-70). Only one other individual, Stanislaus State's Jeff Yamaguchi, placed higher than Manotoc and only four others were ahead of him for the two qualifying spots for individuals to Nationals.

Following a playoff for the individual title, George Markham of Colorado School of Mines won the championship, St. Mary's captured the team title, and they qualified for Nationals along with California Baptist, Holy Names, UC-Colorado Springs, and Colorado Christian.

Now having appeared in the postseason twice in the past three seasons, the future remains bright for ART U.
