Bay Area Invitational Final Results
LIVERMORE, Calif. – After both thunderstorms and frost delays, the third annual Bay Area Invitational resumed play on Tuesday morning, still with three holes to play in the second round. Despite the adversity that the Urban Knights faced, they produced their best overall score in the final round (313), and finished the tournament in 10th-place.
Â
Leading the way for the Urban Knights throughout was sophomore
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc. After shooting a 75 in the first, he followed up with scores of 86 and 76, tying for 29th overall. Manotoc also led ART U with scoring on par-3's, posting a 3.17 on such holes.
Â
"Gabriel is continuing to prove himself as being one of our top players," said head coach
Andy Moren. "He is learning how to stay in contention early on in tournaments."
Â
In second place for ART U was junior
Lawrence Liang whose combined score of 240 tied for 34th overall. Liang's best round came in the third when he shot a 76 to match Manotoc for the team's lowest score. Next, came freshman
Jack Rodewald, who tied for 38th and freshman
Matthew Watkins placed 56th.
Â
"The team learned to battle through bad conditions this tournament," said Moren. "The scores did not represent how hard they played, but you can tell that they put everything they had into it."
Â
Academy of Art will return to action next week when they head to Cal State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout March 5-6.
