NEW YEAR SAME KEZAR
After an 11 day hiatus for the holidays, the Urban Knights are back in action on New Year's Eve against Hawaii Pacific, before a busy first week of 2019, playing three games in five days as part of a six game homestand at Kezar Pavilion.

TIP-OFF
ART U takes on PacWest rival Hawaii Pacific on Monday, Dec. 31, 3:30 p.m. at Kezar Pavilion. Academy of Art will open the new year with Chaminade, Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m. before facing UH Hilo Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m. all inside Kezar Pavilion. KNIGHT WATCH
Junior guard Victor Ruiz de Carranza nearly captured his second double-double of the season on Dec. 19 versus Azusa Pacific, after scoring 13 points and collecting nine rebounds. Carranza also contributed three assists, one block, and a steal to his eclectic stat line. Three other Knights scored double digit figures with senior center Cameron Niven leading the pack with 14, trailed by junior guard Andrija Blatancic, and redshirt sophomore guard Dante Williams who both put up ten. Blatancic has now scored ten or more points in his last three games, and leads ART U in scoring and rebounding, averaging 10.3 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. As a team, Academy of Art ranks second in the PacWest in points allowed, giving up just 65.8 points per game.

19143HAWAII PACIFIC SHARKS
Hawaii Pacific travels to San Francisco with heavy hearts, after the loss of student athlete and fellow teammate Emil Isovic. A moment of silence will be held prior to the national anthem in memory of and to honor Emil.

HPU is one game below .500 with an overall record of 4-5 and a conference record of 1-3. The Sharks opened with an 83-79 loss to Alaska Anchorage before launching into a three game win streak, defeating Alaska, Oakland City, and UH Hilo. Another streak followed as HPU dropped the next four games, including three conference games, before snapping the losing streak with a 90-83 overtime win against Emmanuel. Preseason PacWest Player of the Year Jonathan Janssen is the Sharks leading scorer, averaging 14.2 points per game. The Sharks are 11-3 all-time against the Urban Knights, but lost the most recent meeting 67-66.

UNDEFEATED 'SWORDS
No. 20 Chaminade is the only remaining undefeated team in the PacWest and come in as the No. 1 ranked team in the West region after winning the D2 Power Invitational with a 70-64 victory over then ranked No. 7 UC San Diego. The 'Swords will play one game in northern California against Fresno Pacific on Dec. 31 before they meet ART U in their first game of the new year. The highest scoring offense in the PacWest is led by the second highest individual scorer, Grant Dressler, who is averaging 17.8 points per game. The Silverswords are 15-1 all-time against Academy of Art, and won the last meeting 91-77.

HELLO HILO
The Vulcans are eighth in the PacWest standings, matching ART U's 1-3 conference record. UH Hilo started the season on a high note with an 86-80 win against Alaska Fairbanks. The Vulcan's other wins came against came against Simpson 76-71, and Fresno Pacific 72-57 for their lone PacWest win. UHH will leave Hawaii for the first time this season to travel to northern California for a trio of games, starting with Dominican and Fresno Pacific, before taking on Academy of Art on Jan. 4. James Griffin leads the Vulcans offensively, averaging 17.3 points per game, fourth highest in the PacWest. UHH is 6-7 all-time against the Knights and won the last meeting 74-64.

WELCOME TO HOTEL CALIFORNIA
Sixth place Biola comes into their game with ART U with an overall record of 6-5 and a conference record of 2-3. The Eagles started their season with the PacWest/CCAA Crossover tournament, taking down CSU San Marcos 64-58 before suffering their first loss to Cal State LA. BU proceeded to win five of their next six games, capped off by a three game winning streak. The streak came to an abrupt halt when the Eagles were routed by Point Loma 82-54 and went on to lose their next two games against Concordia and Azusa Pacific. The Eagles will have a rematch with Point Loma on Jan. 2 before traveling to the Bay to take on Notre Dame de Namur on Jan. 5. Michael Bagatourian is BU's leading scorer, averaging 13.9 points per game. Trevor Treinen and Alex Talma follow close behind, averaging 13.5 and 12.2 points per game respectively. A recent addition to the PacWest, Biola has only met Academy of Art on one other occasion that resulted in a 77-73 loss.
