2017 California Bays Invitational Final Results
SALINAS, Calif. – The strong performance for Academy of Art women's golf continued in the California Bays Invitational on Tuesday: the Urban Knights posted the round's lowest combined score (306), solidifying their second-place finish in the tournament, nine strokes behind Cal State Monterey Bay.

Competing as an individual, sophomore
Elan Hawkins put together two strong rounds throughout the invitational. After entering Tuesday in third-place, the San Jose, Calif. native replicated Monday's 75-stroke round and tied for first with the Otters' Linnea Karlsson. The two entered into a one-hole playoff where Hawkins was just edged, placing her in second out of 53 competitors.
"Elan has been hitting the ball really well," said head coach
Elaine Harris. "Last Friday, she worked on a few things in her swing which I believe helped in her ball striking this week. I am really proud of her and enjoyed watching her compete. Elan came very close to winning the event and I look forward to seeing more great scores and tournaments from her."
The first scorer for ART U was freshman
Han-Chuan "Vicky" Kuo who shot an 80 on Tuesday, placing ninth overall. Senior
Sterling Hawkins saw a big improvement over her day-one total, finishing with seven strokes less than her first-round score of 82. Sterling's combined score of 157 strokes gave her a tie for 10th-place.

Despite falling just short of scoring for the Urban Knights, freshman
Iveta Posledni tied for the lowest score out of all individuals in the second round. With a total of 74-strokes, including four birdies, Posledni improved 11 strokes over her first-round score, marking the biggest improvement for Academy of Art.
