Women's Tennis Trio Given All-PacWest Nods

2017 All-PacWest Women's Tennis Awards

IRVINE, Calif. – In the midst of one of the program's most successful seasons, Academy of Art women's tennis had three players honored with 2017 All-PacWest Awards including: sophomores Alma Thell-Lenntorp and Klara Thell-Lenntorp (All-PacWest First Team-Doubles) and sophomore Monika Stanikova (All-PacWest Second Team-Singles).

In doubles, the Thell-Lenntorp twins ranked as high as No. 5 in the country and No. 1 in the region after winning the ITA Regional Doubles Championship in the fall. Overall, the duo is 17-2 against Division II opponents this season and they are currently ranked eighth in the nation and second in the region. This is the second All-PacWest doubles award for the Swedish natives as they were named to the second team in 2016.

Stanikova has been impressive at the top of the lineup in her first season competing for the Urban Knights. In first singles, she currently holds a 12-5 record against her Division II adversaries and is ranked 48th in the nation and 11th in the region. This is Stanikova's first All-PacWest award.

The trio of award winners have helped Academy of Art achieve a No. 9 national ranking which is tied for the team's highest mark in program history.
