No. 22 Academy of Art vs. No. 29 Cal State Los Angeles Final Results
LOS ANGELES - No. 22 Academy of Art bounced back in dominant fashion against Cal State LA on Saturday. The Golden Eagles came into the contest on a four-match winning streak and had just defeated No. 5 Hawaii Pacific two days prior. However, the Urban Knights dismantled CSULA, surrendering just one point en route to a 5-1 victory.
In doubles, ART U took points in the first and second positions as No. 5 sophomores
Alma Thell-Lenntorp and
Klara Thell-Lenntorp won 8-2 while senior
Annika Schneider and sophomore
Taisiia Andrieieva came away with an 8-3 victory. The Knights nearly swept the category, but Cal State LA managed to edge sophomores
Monika Stanikova and
Paula Alcantara by a score of 8-6 in third doubles.
Moving into singles, Academy of Art needed just three wins to emerge as victors, and the Urban Knights were up to the task. Snagging wins in the first, second, and fifth positions, ART U won the match by default.
The Urban Knights will return home briefly to prepare for yet another trip to Southern California. This time, they will face Concordia, Middlebury College, and No. 25 Azusa Pacific.
