No. 22 Academy of Art vs University of the Pacific Final Results

STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 22 Academy of Art headed to Stockton with a seven-game winning streak this season and a 7-0 record. However, the Urban Knights were unable to extend their streak to eight, falling to the Division I Tigers 3-4.

As per usual, Academy of Art looked strong in doubles and took two of the three matches to give the Knights a 1-0 lead in the contest. Freshman
Mariacristina Andrisani and senior
Annika Schneider teamed up to take down their opponent in second doubles (6-4) while sophomores
Monika Stanikova and
Paula Alcantara won in the third position by a close score of 7-6 (3-0).

Moving over to singles, ART U needed to three wins out of the six matches to defeat UOP. In the first position, Stanikova played the Tigers' Maayan Sela very closely and was just edged by a final score of 6-7 (0-6), 6-4, 6-7 (0-4). Schneider was a different story in second singles, giving the Urban Knights their first win of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win. Despite dropping the next three spots in the order, No. 48
Alma Thell-Lenntorp emerged victorious in sixth singles with an efficient 6-2, 6-1 score. Alas, her win was not enough to garner a victory and ART U fell 3-4.

Academy of Art will have a chance to redeem themselves when they return home on Sunday. There, will take on Stanislaus State at 1:00 p.m.
