URBAN KNIGHTS BEGIN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA STINT
Coming off a pair of Pacific West Conference road games this week, Academy of Art University women's basketball returns to San Francisco for its first PacWest home contest, hosting Notre Dame de Namur this Wednesday, then makes a quick trip to Oakland for Sunday's late-afternoon pairing with Holy Names.

ART U will be in action against two local PacWest opponents this week with the Argonauts coming to Kezar Pavilion on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. before the Knights head to Tobin Gymnasium this Sunday, Dec. 10 for a 4 p.m. tip-off against the Hawks. KNIGHT WATCH
Currently ranked third in the PacWest in steals (9.25 per game), Academy of Art is led by a pair of Urban Knights among the conference's top four in that category. Senior forward Helena Orts is second in the PacWest at 2.6 thefts per game while redshirt senior guard Jazzlynn Brewster comes in fourth overall at 2.5 steals per contest. Incidentally, those two are ART U's top two scorers with Brewster averaging 13.8 points per game (14th in the PacWest) and Orts putting up 13.0 points per game (18th). Another Knights tandem, Orts (8.3) and redshirt senior forward Pre'Franz Dominick (8.1) can be found seventh and eighth in the PacWest in rebounds per game. Brewster has moved up to fourth in the conference with 4.4 assists per contest.

KNOWING NOTRE DAME
Notre Dame de Namur's season has been up and down with no win streaks and only one stretch with two losses thus far. The Argonauts edged Chico State for their first win, topped Cal State East Bay and Fresno Pacific, but fell to Sonoma State, Humboldt State, Western Oregon, SF State, and Dominican. NDNU carries the third-highest field goal percentage (.420) collectively and two Argos are among the top eight in that category including Jerusha Paine (.506, 13.5 points per game) and Marissa Caballero (.461, 16.0 points per game). In 17 previous meetings, Academy of Art has the 13-4 edge all-time.

HAWK TALK
Through its first 10 games of the 2017-18 season, Holy Names has one win, a 73-53 victory over Cal State Maritime. The Hawks began with losses to Cal State East bay, Montana State Billings in ART U's own West Region Tip-Off Classic, fell to Sonoma State, and dropped games to both Alaska teams before the win. They have since lost four consecutive games including 20+-point results to Dominican and Fresno Pacific to open PacWest play. The Knights and Hawks have faced one another 10 times previously and it is ART U that holds a 6-4 advantage.

TRAILBLAZERS OUTLAST URBAN KNIGHTS 77-73 IN UTAH
Despite gaining their largest lead midway through the third quarter, Academy of Art University women's basketball saw the momentum shift when Dixie State went on a 19-2 run into the fourth quarter inside Burns Arena on Dec. 2. Anyone's game in the final minute, the Trailblazers benefitted from a fortunate bounce of the basketball off a deflection late and held on to win 77-73.

LOOKING AHEAD
ART U will depart PacWest Conference play for the final time next week with Central Washington (Dec. 12) and Stanislaus State (Dec. 15) both coming to Kezar Pavilion for non-conference matchups.
