ACADEMY OF ART HOSTS CWU, STAN STATE, POINT LOMA
Following their first Pacific West Conference win, Academy of Art University women's basketball settles into a three-game homestand over the course of the coming week. It begins with two non-conference matchups on Tuesday (Central Washington) and Friday (Stanislaus State) then concludes on Monday with Point Loma.

KNIGHT WATCH

Exemplifying its effort in the hustle categories, Academy of Art ranks currently leads the PacWest in offensive rebounds per game (14.8) and ranks third in the PacWest in steals (9.5 per game). After redshirt senior forward

Jazzlynn Brewster comes in fourth overall at 2.5 steals per contest. Dominick's back-to-back 15+ rebound efforts (18 versus NDNU, 17 versus HNU) have pushed her to third in the PacWest (10.0 rebounds per game). Brewster and Orts have contributed in other areas as well with the former serving as one of six players to average 4+ assists per game (4.1) and both ranking among the top three in steals per game (Orts is second at 2.6, Brewster is third at 2.4).
IN THE WILD
After starting the year 1-3, Central Washington has improved to 4-4 with three wins in its last four games. The Wildcats fell to Hawaii Pacific 77-68 in their second game of the year, played several out-of-region opponents, and most recently split with the Alaska schools, dropping a 70-58 final to No. 2 Alaska Anchorage before topping Alaska 81-72. CWU was picked to finish third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference along with Northwest Nazarene in the Preseason Coaches Poll. Taylor Baird is the Wildcats' leading scorer at 12.8 points per game, converting at nearly 50 percent from the field and putting up 8.4 rebounds per contest as well. Central Washington has met Academy of Art three times prior, most recently in 2013, and leads the all-time matchup 2-1.
STUDYING STANISLAUS

Up and down to start 2017-18 after being picked to finish ninth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Preseason Coaches Poll, Stanislaus State split as host of the CCAA/GNAC Challenge with a dramatic 72-68 overtime win against Concordia Portland. The Warriors have since defeated Cal Poly Pomona, Fresno Pacific, Holy Names, and Cal State Los Angeles, but dropped back-to-back games to Humboldt State and Sonoma State last week. Stanislaus State will face NCAA Division I Nevada on Dec. 12 prior to meeting ART U on Dec. 15. Three Warriors, Zahira Hendrix (9.6), Erika Larsen (9.6), and Lizzy Alexander (9.5), average 9.5 points per game or higher. The Knights and Warriors have split four meetings prior to this upcoming contest.
GETTING TO THE POINT
Despite being picked to share the PacWest regular season crown with Azusa Pacific, Point Loma currently sits in the middle of the conference standings. PLNU started with four consecutive wins including a 78-59 victory over Cal State East Bay, lost three of four including an 81-69 final against APU just days after the ART U faced the Cougars. The Sea Lions defeated California Baptist 85-78 last week and will play Dominican on Dec. 16 before continuing their roadtrip to San Francisco on Monday. The PacWest leader in scoring (82.2 points per game), field goal percentage (42.8), rebounding (46.0 per game), and blocks (5.1 per game), Point Loma is led by its two Preseason All-PacWest Team members Alex Brunk (17.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.6 spg) and Roya Rustamzada (15.4 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 4.8 apg, 2.1 spg). In nine previous meetings, ART U leads PLNU 6-3.
REBOUNDING OUTBURST KEYS ART U'S FIRST PACWEST WIN
Tough defense combined with the fifth-most rebounds in program single-game history (65) on
Dec. 10 as Academy of Art women's basketball earned a dominant 75-39 victory over Holy Names inside Tobin Gymnasium. Leading the charge, redshirt senior forward
Pre'Franz Dominick posted an oversized double-double with 27 points and 17 rebounds.
LOOKING AHEAD
Off for the holiday, ART U will resume PacWest play on Dec. 30 at Fresno Pacific then the Urban Knights head to Hawaii for a pair of games on Jan. 3 (Hawaii Pacific) and Jan. 5 (UH Hilo).
