Knights Finish Fall in 18th at Otter Invite

2017 Otter Invitational Final Results

SEASIDE, Calif. – In their final tournament of the fall, Academy of Art men's golf turned in their best of three rounds on Tuesday, shooting a 301 combined-score. However, their efforts were not enough to reach the podium as the Urban Knights finished in 18th at the Otter Invitational, just two strokes behind Cal State East Bay.

Leading ART U on the stat sheet was sophomore Gabriel De Leon Manotoc. The Advertising major posted his best score in the second round (72) and finished the tournament with a score of 224 to tie for 37th.  Seven strokes back was freshman Matthew Watkins who finished the tournament tied for 71st. Watkins improved in each round of the tourney, culminating in his lowest score in the third round (73). Rounding off Academy of Art's top three scorers was senior Eamonn Coughlin whose 233 overall strokes put him in a tie for 75th. Coughlin's final round was also his lowest, a 76 (+4).

The team champion was Cal State Monterey Bay who finished eight strokes under par (856) which was 66 ahead of Academy of Art. Now, having competed in their final tournament of the fall, the Urban Knights will spend the next few months preparing to host the first tournament of the championship season: the third-annual Bay Area Invitational February 26-27.
