Then, as originally scheduled, ART U welcomes Texas A&M-Commerce, a team they have never played before, to Mission Blue Field on Saturday.
FIRST PITCHThis Friday, Feb. 19 will see Academy of Art and Cal State East Bay face off in a noon doubleheader at Pioneer Field in Hayward. The following day, Feb. 20, the Knights take on Texas A&M-Commerce for a pair beginning noon once again. KNIGHT WATCHNow 10 games into the 2016 season, ART U has two hitters batting over .300 in freshman infielder
Brenna Youngquist (.333) and junior outfielder

Ranked top 10 in the Pacific West Conference in ERA, sophomore
Brenna Mitchell (3-3) has thrown 35.2 of the team's 65.2 innings thus far and sports a 2.75 ERA. She has two complete games thus far and just five extra-base hits allowed.
EARS TO THE PIONEERSWinning the first, but splitting all three of its doubleheaders thus far, Cal State East Bay is 3-3 on the season. The Pioneers opened with a 9-3 win over Dominican then fell 6-4 then blanked Cal State San Bernardino 8-0 in each of its two wins though fell by a 19-11 collective score in two losses. CSUEB would have played Notre Dame de Namur on Feb. 18, however, wet field conditions forced that matchup's postponement. Rose Marston leads Cal State East Bay with a .545 batting average, three home runs, nine RBIs, and nine runs scored while Sierra Clark (4-1) has yet to allow an earned run in 19.1 innings with 18 strikeouts in the circle. ART U most recently defeated the Pioneers
8-6 last season, but CSUEB holds a 6-2 advantage all-time.
LOOKING AT THE LIONSA member of the Lone Start Conference, Texas A&M-Commerce has started the year hot with an 8-1 record to date. The Lions won their first three games before losing to St. Mary's, host of the tournament in San Antonio, then rattled off five straight victories in the Texas A&M-Kingsville Tournament. Thus far, three of TAMUC's wins have come over St. Edward's and, in five of their nine games, the Lions have scored 10 or more runs. The Lions' top hitter has been Cherie Jackson who comes in hitting .542 with four home runs and 18 RBIs. This Saturday will be the first time the teams have met in program history.
KNIGHTS END WEEK WITH THRILLING WIN IN SPLIT Academy of Art University softball closed out its eventful weekend on a dramatic note on
Feb. 14 at SF State. After falling in six innings of game one 9-1, the Urban Knights rallied for 10 runs in just two innings to come from behind and defeat the Gators 10-8 in the finale. Sophomore
Brenna Mitchell crushed the first home run of her collegiate career, a two-run shot, to tie game two in the sixth inning and senior catcher
Elise Oldham promptly drove in the go-ahead run on a double to highlight the thrilling victory.
LOOKING AHEADAcademy of Art will have its first taste of Pacific West Conference action next week when the Knights travel to San Leandro (College of Marin) to play Holy Names on Saturday, Feb. 27 for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.
