URBAN KNIGHTS GET FIRST LOOK AT CONCORDIA, HOST CHAMINADE
Despite seeing its 10-game Pacific West Conference win streak come to an end with No. 25 Azusa Pacific in town, Academy of Art University women's basketball still remains atop the conference standings. The Urban Knights now look to defend their position as they continue a four-game homestand with their first-ever game against Concordia on Wednesday followed by a weekend contest hosting Chaminade.

KNIGHT WATCH
Academy of Art University's transition game continues to thrive on a national scale as ART U ranks sixth the country (first in PacWest) in turnover margin (7.81), sixth in total steals (228), and 13th in scoring margin (79.4 points per game). Rebounding has also been a significant part of the Knights' success with their 16.5 offensive rebounds per game at 17th in NCAA Division II (second only to Dominican in the PacWest). Senior guard Jasmin Guinn, the country's leader in total steals (77) and third in steals per game (3.7), has been a big reason why Academy of Art ranks so highly as she adds 19.7 points per game (second in PacWest, 18th in NCAA DII) and 8.0 rebounds per game (eighth in PacWest). She is third in the PacWest in double-doubles with eight thus far.

12958Senior guard Zoie Sheng comes into the week eighth in the PacWest in scoring at 15.7 points per game and fourth in the conference in assists per game (4.8) after recently reaching the 100-assist plateau for the second time in her past two seasons. She has also moved up to third in the conference in free throw percentage (.825). Only one assist and two rebounds away from the program's first triple double at BYU-Hawaii, senior guard Regina Camera ranks ninth in the PacWest in assists per game (3.7), 13th in points per game (14.1), and 25th in rebounds per game (5.5). Rounding out the Knights' four-part offensive punch, senior guard Sha'Nice Storey is averaging nearly three 3-pointers made per game over her last six contests and averages 12.1 points per game (23rd in PacWest).

A NEW OPPONENT SOARS IN
In its debut season as a PacWest Conference member, Concordia went 1-9 in its first 10 games, but picked up its first PacWest win in early January hosting Dixie State. Since that time, the Eagles have fallen in five straight including a 60-56 result at Notre Dame de Namur this past Monday. Brittany Stafford leads CUI both offensively (13.9 points per game) and rebounding the basketball (6.1 rpg). Wednesday will be the first-ever meeting of the Urban Knights and Eagles.

SWORDPLAY
A team built similarly to ART U with top five rankings in both steals (9.71) and offensive rebounds per game (14.4) in the PacWest, Chaminade got out to an impressive start with three wins to start conference play this year. The Silverswords knocked off Concordia Irvine, Holy Names, and UH Hilo. Since that time, Chaminade has gone 1-6 in PacWest games and faces Hawaii Pacific on Jan. 26 prior to its Bay Area roadtrip. Also like Academy of Art, Chaminade's offense comes from a variety of sources as Lilia Maio (15.4 ppg), Courtney Kaupu (10.4 ppg), and Kristle Henry (10.0 ppg) all average double figures in scoring. ART U had two regular season wins against Chaminade last season, improving its all-time record against the Silverswords to 13-0.

#25 COUGARS END ART U'S PACWEST WIN STREAK
The highly-anticipated meeting of Academy of Art University women's basketball and No. 25 Azusa Pacific on Jan. 23 did not disappoint as both teams were tied after a hard-fought first half. Early in the second, the Cougars used a 16-0 run to gain a double-digit advantage and managed to outlast the Urban Knights 84-72 inside Kezar Pavilion. Four of five ART U starters scored in double figures led by Guinn's 19 points.

LOOKING AHEAD
Academy of Art University will host Holy Names on Feb. 3 to conclude its four-part homestand then heads out on the road to Dixie State (Feb. 11) and Southern California for three games in five days.
