SAN FRANCISCO — A Senior Day victory Saturday stretched the No. 11 Academy of Art University women's tennis team's win streak to six, as seniors

Jenny Johansson and
Kinga Kurczbuch each helped lead the Urban Knights to a 6-3 win over Holy Names at the San Francisco Tennis Club.

ART U (11-3) swept the No. 1 through No. 4 singles, including three wins from Gajdosikova (No. 1), Johansson (No. 3) and Kurczbuch (No. 4), and took the top two spots in doubles for the victory. The Knights snapped Holy Names' (16-5) winning streak at 13 matches.

After being honored in a pre-match ceremony, Gajdosikova proceeded to team with junior
Annika Schneider at No. 1 doubles to defeat HNU's Jessica Ho and Leticia Vieira 8-3. Johansson paired with junior
Michelle Dandik Zaale at No. 2 doubles and won 8-2 over Chelsea Smithback and Lexi Bevins, giving ART U an early 2-1 lead.

The Urban Knights' four singles wins came in dominating fashion. All four came in straight sets. No Holy Names player won more than two games in any of the eight sets played during those defeats. Gajdosikova won 6-1, 6-2 over Mariel Bautista at No. 1, Johansson won at No. 3, 6-0, 6-2 over Smithback and Kurczbuch won 6-2, 6-2 over Vieira at No. 4.
Michelle Dandik Zaale also contributed a singles win – her fourth in a row – beating Ho 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.

The Urban Knights close the regular season at 1 p.m. Sunday at NCAA Division I member San Jose State.
