SAN FRANCISCO — Nationally ranked teams continued to be no problem for the No. 12 Academy of Art University women's tennis team Monday as the Urban Knights defeated their third top-30 ranked NCAA Division II team this season with a 6-3 win over No. 22 Point Loma at the San Francisco Tennis Club.

The Knights (4-1) won the No. 1 through No. 4 singles spots and took an early 2-1 advantage in the match with victories at the top-two doubles spots. Singles was very competitive, as four matches went three sets. Four sets in four different matches were won with a decisive seventh game. ART U is now 3-0 against NCAA D-II ranked teams with all victories coming at 6-3 or better.

Senior Jenny Johansson continued her undefeated spring with a three-set, 5-7, 6-0, 6-3, win over Preethika Venugopal at No. 4 singles – her highest matchup so far in 2015 duals. She also teamed with junior Michelle Dandik Zaale at No. 2 doubles to win 8-3 over Regina von Koch and Venugopal, moving to 5-0 in doubles, including 2-0 with Dandik Zaale.

Senior Nina Gajdosikova, the No. 43-nationally ranked singles player, won her third straight match at No. 1 singles with a 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-3, win over PLNU's (5-6) Madeline Cunningham to move to 4-1 this spring. She also won at No. 1 doubles with junior Lucia Zavarcikova, 8-4 over Nikki Newell and Hilary Ramage. Zavarcikova won at No. 2 singles 7-5, 6-3, over Newell and Dandik Zaale won in three sets at No. 3 over von Koch, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
