KNIGHTS HOST SUNBIRDS MID-WEEK, THEN HEAD TO DOMINICANAs the gamedays count down to Academy of Art University's three-part Hawaii roadtrip at the end of the month, the Urban Knights are set to host Fresno Pacific in ART U's penultimate home game before they look for revenge against Dominican in San Rafael.
OPENING TIPBookending a rare weekend off from competition, Academy of Art hosts Fresno Pacific this Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Kezar Pavilion then travels across the bay to play Dominican on Monday, Feb. 16 inside Conlan Recreation Center. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m. and live coverage will be available via the links above.

KNIGHT WATCHPosting a difference of 5.18 turnovers forced per game, Academy of Art not only leads the PacWest, but ranks 15th in the country. ART U is also first in the conference in steals per game (9.91), tied for first in offensive rebounds per game (16.2), and third in scoring (74.3 points per game). The Knights are 27th in the NCAA in offensive rebounds.
After scoring 18+ points in back-to-back games, junior guard
Zoie Sheng has upped her scoring average to 13.9 points per game (13th in PacWest) and she has moved up to third in the conference in free throw percentage (82.8%). With six more made free throws, she will become the program's all-time leader in that category. Junior guard
Sha'Nice Storey is second on the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game while junior guard
Jasmin Guinn's 12.4 points per game is just behind.
Guinn comes off an 11 rebound performance at Holy Names in a game where she also became the program's new career steals leader, now with 152 through a little over two and a half years. She sits at 11th in the conference in rebounding (7.8 rpg). Junior guard
Regina Camera is the fourth Urban Knight averaging double figures in scoring at 10.3 points per game along with a 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio that is top 10 in the PacWest. With 842 career points scored, Camera recently passed Lorraine Etchell (837) for second on the program's all-time scoring list, but has a ways to go to catch the leader (
Alisa Griggs – 974).
CATCHING SOME SUNBIRDSCurrently 11th in the PacWest standings, Fresno Pacific recently broke up its seven-game losing streak with a 61-60 win at Dominican, but the Penguins came right back and topped the Sunbirds 86-64 five days later. All three of FPU's wins have come in conference play – home against Holy Names on Dec. 4 (84-53) and Point Loma on Dec. 20 (73-59) and the aforementioned Dominican road win – while the team is the PacWest leader in free throw percentage (.752). The team's leading scorer is Jenay Herring who averages 13.3 points per game and tops the conference with a .887 free throw percentage. In two previous meetings, Academy of Art holds a 2-0 record against the Sunbirds.
PICKING APART THE PENGUINSJust behind ART U in the conference standings, Dominican sustained a three-game losing streak after defeating Academy of Art on Jan. 3. However, the Penguins have since gone 4-2 and topped Dixie State (89-78) as well as Fresno Pacific (86-64) most recently. Dominican is slated to play both Notre Dame de Namur (Feb. 10) and Holy Names (Feb. 14) prior to hosting the Knights. The Penguins rank #1 in the PacWest in both field goal percentage defense (.362) and blocks per game (6.95). Allyssa Weatherd, who scored a game-high 23 points in the previous meeting with ART U, is third in the PacWest in scoring (17.6 points per game) while Sarah Nelson is still the country's leader in blocks per game (5.3) and second in rebounding (11.0). Academy of Art holds an 11-1 all-time record against Dominican.
ART U STARTERS SET TONE IN 71-59 VICTORYCombining for 56 of the team's 71 points, the ART U Women's Basketball starters were the difference on
Feb. 7 as the Urban Knights defeated Holy Names 71-59 inside Tobin Gymnasium.
Zoie Sheng posted a team-high 18 points and
Jasmin Guinn became the program's career steals leader in a game that saw Academy of Art hold the lead for all 40 minutes.
