Box Score SAN FRANCISCO — The Academy of Art University men's basketball team found its stroke from downtown Monday night, shooting 40 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, but it was Point Loma's hot shooting that carried the night as the Sea Lions came away with a 77-56 Pacific West Conference victory at Kezar Pavilion.
Â
The Urban Knights (4-15, 2-11 PacWest) shot 40.4 percent from the floor and were 6-for-15 shooting treys. Point Loma (16-5, 9-5 PacWest) countered with a 59.6 percent shooting performance and a 58.8 percent (10-for-17) mark from deep. The only place PLNU didn't shoot well was from the free-throw line, where ART U made more free throws than its opponent (12-11) for the first time in eight games.
Â
Point Loma had four players score in double figures, led by Sam Okhotin's game-high 18. Randall Jackson scored 12 and Hayden Lescault and Mike Planeta chipped in 11 each. Senior guard
Aaron Anderson led ART U with 12 points and sophomore guard
Herman Pratt IV had 11. Nine different Urban Knights scored and eight had at least one rebound.
Â
The game was very close through the first 6 1/2 minutes with neither team separating itself by more than two points. But Point Loma would finally make a push with a 19-2 run over a 7:08 stretch to give itself a 28-12 lead with six minutes to play before halftime. The run was started and ended with 3-pointers by Okhotin. The run included a two-minute stretch during the run in which neither team scored any points, instead turning it over a combined four times.
