Having moved up to a 19th place ranking among the more than 300 teams in turnover margin (7.82), Academy of Art is currently first in the Pacific West Conference in that category. The Urban Knights are also second in the conference in both steals (9.45 per game) and turnover margin (1.11). That defense has turned into offense quite often as PacWest Defender of the Week senior guard Jasmin Guinn is not only the PacWest's No. 1 at 3.4 steals per game (18th in country), but also the conference's top scorer at 20.3 points per game (23rd in NCAA Division II). She comes off a week in which she averaged a double-double (21.3 points and 10.0 rebounds) that was highlighted by a new program record 35 points against Cal State Monterey Bay on Nov. 27.

Alongside Guinn among the PacWest's top 12 scorers are senior guard Zoie Sheng (16.0 ppg) and senior guard Regina Camera (15.0).  Sheng ranks third in the conference in assists (5.0 apg) and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8) while Camera comes in at third in the PacWest in steals per game (2.2).

KNOWING NOTRE DAME
Still in search of their first win of the season at 0-7 thus far, Notre Dame de Namur has faced six teams of the 13 teams in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Argonauts most recently fell to both Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay in the CCAA/PacWest Thanksgiving Shootout, but had their closest final margin in a 67-63 loss to SF State on Nov. 17. Through seven games thus far, NDNU has had six different players score game-highs including Jerusha Paine (9.3 ppg) and Marinel Alcantara (9.1 ppg). The Knights are 10-3 all-time against the Argos.

PIONEERS OUTLAST KNIGHTS IN OVERTIME 73-69
Playing its fifth game in eight days, Academy of Art University women's basketball left it all on the court on Nov. 28, battling into overtime with CCAA/PacWest Thanksgiving Shootout host Cal State East Bay. The Urban Knights, who had been down by as many as 13 points, fought all the way back to get into a fifth period where the Pioneers managed to edge ART U 73-69 thanks to free throws down the stretch and a total of 11 3-pointers made.

LOOKING AHEAD
PacWest Conference play will keep the Knights on the road with another single-game week in which they travel to Fresno Pacific on Dec. 12. The month of December then finishes with a pair of home games, hosting Dominican (Dec. 17) and FPU (Dec. 19), before a two-week break from competition over the holiday.
