MATCH RESULTSManoa, HI -- Facing PacWest power and #5-ranked Hawaii Pacific for the first time this year, the #13-ranked Academy of Art University women's tennis team saw their magnificent 2014 campaign come to an end in the NCAA Division II Regional round. The Knights battled all the way but fell 5-0 to the Sea Warriors, who will advance as the second West Region entry in the Championship bracket.
For the first time this year, the Urban Knights couldn't take one of the three doubles matches which put them at a 3-0 deficit.

Jenny Johansson fell in first doubles 8-4 to #21 Celina Goetti & Karen Ramirez, while
Nina Gajdosikova &
Daniela Amelunge Antelo were defeated by Magdalena Smejova & Lorena Gheorghe 8-3.
Michelle Dandik Zaale and
Annika Schneider came the closest to pulling off an upset, but they would succumb to Lea Kruse-Utermann & Vivian Hansen in a long 9-7 battle.
Heading into singles play, the Sea Warriors needed just two matches but the Knights wouldn't go down without a fight. They sent their best at HPU, but Goetti defeated Zavarcikova 6-3, 6-3 in second singles, and Smejova beat Dandik Zaale 6-3, 6-2, and Hawaii Pacific emerged with the victory.
"The girls battled hard today the score doesn't reflect the matches that were played," said head coach Beth Daub. "HPU played a great match and their experience showed. I'm very proud of my girls and the season we have had.The future of this program is looking bright and can't wait to see what they can do. ART U tennis has had a fantastic 2014 season and their hard work has paid off."
Academy of Art finishes the year with their first ever NCAA Regionals appearance under their belt despite the loss, while also achieving their best winning percentage (17-4, .810) and highest national (#13) and regional (#3) rankings.
