OPENING SERVE
The regular season is over and the tournament bracket is out, and the Academy of Art University women's tennis team is raring to go in the desert for the PacWest Championship Tournament. Starting on Thursday, the 4th-seeded Knights take on #5 Point Loma at 9:00 AM at the Surprise Tennis Complex in Surprise, AZ. You can follow all the action with the links above.

WHAT BROUGHT US HERE
To get to the championship, the Urban Knights finished the year with the highest winning percentage in program history, going 15-2 for a .882 percentage. They started off the year by rattling off six straight wins before the first loss of the season to Azusa Pacific on March 7, and then proceeded to win six more in a row before the final loss of 2014 against BYU-Hawaii. After that they won their final three matches of the year, taking two close matches over Sonoma State and Fresno Pacific before romping to an 8-1 victory over Cal State Stanislaus.

ROAD TO THE WINNERS CIRCLE
Academy of Art will have to fight their way to the finals, but they go into the opening round against the 5th-seeded Sea Lions confident after they defeated PLNU 9-0 earlier this year. If the Urban Knights emerge victorious, they'll take on the winner of the #1/#8 matchup between top seed BYU-Hawaii and #8 seed Dominican on Friday at 9:00 AM. If they move on from there, they'll face the winner of the other bracket, whether it be from #2 Hawaii Pacific, #3 Azusa Pacific, #6 Sonoma State, or #7 Fresno Pacific. Out of all of those possible, HPU is the only team that the Knights have not yet seen this year, while they are a combined 6-2 against the others, having faced Sonoma State and Dominican twice this year.

STELLAR RECORDS ALL AROUND
The Knights lone senior, Daniela Amelunge Antelo, led by example this season, notching a 13-2 record in singles and 10-7 mark in doubles play. The junior class has also been very impressive, as Nina Gajdosikova (10-7), Jenny Johansson (16-1), and Kinga Kurczbuch (7-0) combined for almost half of the Urban Knights' 77 singles victories this year. Michelle Dandik Zaale (11-6) and Lucia Zavarcikova (9-6) make up a strong sophomore class, while freshman phenom Annika Schneider started her career with an 11-2 season in singles. Johansson has won 12 straight singles matches and battled to a 14-1 record in doubles play with Zavarcikova. Dandik Zaale and Schneider have also won 10 doubles matches in a row, while the entire squad compiled a 41-10 record in doubles play, good for an .804 winning percentage.
