San Francisco, CA – In the second part of a three-game homestand, Academy of Art University Women's Basketball used a strong second half to pull away from Chaminade en route to an 82-52 victory. The Urban Knights outscored the Silverswords 43-22 in the second period while pulling down the third-most rebounds in program history (67). Leading the way for ART U was Krystal Forthan (23 points, 18 rebounds), Regina Camera (14 points, eight rebounds), and Jasmin Guinn (12 points, 12 rebounds).

Looking to overcome the Knights' 10-0 all-time record against the Swords coming in, Chaminade came out of the gate hot, quickly getting ahead 8-4. Soon, layups by Guinn and Sha'Nice Storey helped Academy of Art tie the game 8-8 and eventually obtain its first lead, but the Silverswords were locked in offensively and went on a 9-2 run powered by Hanna Curtis' triple on a fast break.

The Urban Knights would settle into their rhythm, however, and responded with an 11-0 burst keyed by an Alisa Griggs jumper and later furthered by a Camera triple and back-to-back buckets from Guinn and Forthan. From down five, ART U went up eight, 27-19, on free throws by Zoie Sheng while Forthan and Aleigh Krug patrolled the paint, rejecting shots from the Swords who ventured in.

Chaminade briefly fought back to take a one-point lead at 30-29 with 3:28 to play in the first, but that momentum was quickly squashed as the Knights closed the half on a 10-0 run that included six points by Forthan and a pair of layups by Guinn in the final minute. As the buzzer sounded, Academy of Art held a 39-30 halftime advantage and it did not appear this one would slip.

ART U's 10-0 push was then extended to 25-3 in the first six minutes of the second period. A variety of Urban Knights got into the scoring act with Storey initially offering free throws then Camera as well as Molly O'Brien getting to the rim for high-percentage attempts. Up 54-33, Academy of Art delivered another offensive punch in the form of an 11-4 surge capped by a Camera triple.

More than midway through the second half, ART U found itself ahead by 28 points and the baskets continued to rain in. Two jumpers by Storey followed by Forthan's 23 points of the afternoon rose the Knights above a 30-point margin and there it would remain through the end of the game, finishing with Academy of Art on top 82-52.

ART U improves to 12-6 overall and 9-1 in PacWest play after a stellar rebounding effort that saw the Knights grab 67 boards in total. Forthan led the charge once again with 23 points (10-of-26 FG) and 18 rebounds along with four blocks and three steals. Camera added a 14-point, eight-rebound performance while 12 points apiece came from Guinn and Storey. Guinn also contributed 12 rebounds and five assists for her sixth double-double of the season.

Chaminade falls to 2-14 overall, 2-8 in conference with the loss, but did have 16 points and 11 rebounds from leading scorer Lilia Maio. She was supported by Kristie Henry's 10 points as well.

The Urban Knights are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 25 with BYU-Hawaii in town at Kezar Pavilion. Tipoff is set for 1:00 PM.
