OPENING SERVE
The Urban Knights closed out the last homestand three wins, capped with a 5-4 win over Sonoma State, the second time this year those teams have played to the same score. They also prepped for the PacWest Championships in the island weather by playing perennial tournament invitee BYU Hawaii on Wednesday, falling 5-1 in their final tuneup.

KNIGHTS PULL SIXTH SEED
Although the Knights had their strongest season in program history, they were awarded only the seventh seed in the PacWest Tournament this season largely due to the highly competitive group of tennis players that the PacWest puts out every year. Hawaii Pacific took the top seed and will play Dominican, while BYU Hawaii took the second spot, facing Academy of Art. Point Loma in the sixth spot will play three-seed Grand Canyon while fourth-seeded Fresno Pacific will play five-seed Azusa Pacific.

ART U FALLS IN PACWEST TUNEUP
In their first matchup against the #4 team in the country, Academy of Art fell short against BYU Hawaii a day before the Championship is due to start. The Knights stole a point in the seceond doubles spot, as Amal Ben El Hadj and Michelle Dandik Zaale were victorious. Lucia Zavarcikova had the only lead for the Knights in singles, but her match in the sixth singles slot was left unfinished as the Seasiders clinched the win.

SENIOR SUNDAY A GREAT SUCCESS
After three years in an Urban Knight uniform, senior Amal Ben El Hadj now ranks first all time in career singles wins with 40, and has the second most career doubles wins with 35. She put together three straight years with double-digit singles win totals, winning 14 her sophomore year and 10 last season before her 16 wins this year, and will head to her final PacWest Championship. Ben El Hadj won on Sunday in both singles and doubles as part of her successful season.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
The Knights will finish the PacWest Tournament by Saturday and then look forward to the release of regional rankings on April 24 and the national ITA rankings on May 1, which will determine the Knights fate when it comes to the NCAA Division II West Regionals on May 2-4 and the NCAA Division II National Championship on May 8-11.
